Bath is spoilt for choice for appealing cafés, but few do decent, interesting food – which is why this laid-back little place stands out. Its tapas include chorizo in cider with green beans and almonds, goat’s cheese with pine nuts, beetroot and chard, and Moroccan meatballs. Order four or more, and they come beautifully presented on a platter dish.

Otherwise, there are tempting main courses such as a salmon fishcake with a poached egg, along with good breakfasts and sandwiches. With picture windows looking on to a pedestrian lane, bare wood tables, Bentwood chairs and a few offbeat paintings on the walls, the atmosphere is laid back and a tad bohemian.
